Security
Built for confidential legal work
Activity is prepared on the device, protected in transit and at rest, and released only after the lawyer reviews it.
How Sixminute protects firm and client information
Activity prepared on device
Captured activity is organised on the lawyer's device before it is submitted for model processing.
Encrypted throughout
Information is encrypted in transit. The local index uses SQLCipher, while sensitive cloud fields use AES-256-GCM.
Isolated by firm
Firm records are separated by tenant, protected by database policies and encrypted with firm-specific data keys.
Not used for training
Sixminute does not use firm or client information to train models. Providers cannot train on submitted data.
Processing that matches the firm's requirements
Sixminute prepares activity on the device and uses a managed service for model processing. Firms can agree firm-controlled or privately hosted processing during onboarding.
How the firm and the lawyer stay in control
Unreviewed entries remain private
Unreviewed entries belong to the timekeeper. Nobody else in the firm can see them until the lawyer releases them.
Capture remains controllable
Lawyers can stop capture at any time, and firms can exclude applications that should not be observed.
Hosted in the EU
API, database and encryption keys are hosted in Frankfurt. Processing follows the firm's arrangement.
Changes are auditable
Each edit records who changed what and when. Original values remain in the entry history.
Frequently asked questions
What does Sixminute capture?
Sixminute observes activity across the applications used for legal work. Depending on the application and operating system, captured material can include text, interaction signals and other on-screen context needed to understand the task. Because that material may contain confidential information, Sixminute treats it as sensitive from the moment it is captured.
What happens on the lawyer's device?
Captured activity is organised and reformatted on the device before model processing. This reduces raw activity to work context that can be used to identify the task, matter, duration and narrative.
Does Sixminute use firm or client information to train models?
No. Sixminute does not use firm or client information to train its own models. Model-processing arrangements are selected under business terms that prohibit training on submitted data.
Can a firm choose how model processing is handled?
Yes. Sixminute supports a managed configuration and can discuss firm-controlled or privately hosted processing arrangements for firms with additional requirements. The supported configuration is agreed during onboarding.
Can a firm use its own model-provider account?
Depending on the deployment, a firm may use its own model-provider account or choose a privately hosted processing arrangement. The supported configuration is agreed during onboarding.
Who can see an entry before it is released?
An unreviewed entry is private to the individual timekeeper. It becomes available to the firm's billing workflow only after the lawyer reviews and releases it.
Can lawyers stop capture or exclude applications?
Yes. Lawyers can stop capture, and firms can exclude applications that should not be observed.
How is information encrypted?
Information is encrypted in transit. The local Sixminute index is encrypted using SQLCipher. Sensitive cloud fields use AES-256-GCM encryption with firm-specific data keys.
How long does Sixminute retain information?
Retention depends on the category of information and the processing arrangement agreed with the firm. Captured activity, model inputs and released entries serve different purposes and should not be treated as one undifferentiated data set. The applicable retention terms are documented during onboarding.
Is Sixminute GDPR compliant?
Sixminute is designed for firms subject to GDPR and uses technical and organisational measures intended to support that use. GDPR compliance also depends on the firm's purpose, configuration and use of the service. Processing roles, subprocessors, retention and any international transfers should therefore be documented and assessed during onboarding.
Can our firm perform a security review before using Sixminute?
Yes. Prospective firms can review the relevant security, privacy, retention and processing information before onboarding and discuss requirements that are specific to their practice.
